Abstract

1,164,141. Detergent holder and dispenser. SMITH HAYDEN & CO. Ltd. 20 Feb., 1967 [2 March, 1966], No. 9168/66. Heading A4V. A combined detergent packaging and dispensing device consists of a blow-moulded rigid or semi-rigid cylindrical capsule closed at both ends, within which the detergent composition is enclosed the capsule having openings in its walls so that when it is immersed in a flowing liquid it allows access of the liquid to the detergent composition. The cylindrical capsule, 1, is moulded from Thermoplastic material, the cylindrical wall, 2, having a plurality of spaced, outwardly extending, hollow projections, 3. A self-sealing slit is formed in one end of the capsule at 4 to allow filling of the capsule with the detergent composition (Fig.1). After the filling operation the projections, 3, are removed by a heated cutter (Fig.2). Other forms of the capsule have axially extending, outwardly projecting pins or lateral circumferentially outwardly projecting pins. Another form of the device consists of 2 cylindrical members each open at one end, one being fitted inside the other.
