Abstract

1,162,454. Delivering sheets. PAPER CONVERTING MACHINE CO. Inc. 2 May, 1968 [20 Dec., 1967], No. 20871/68. Heading B8R. A web W, Fig. 4, is folded longitudinally, cut into folded sheets by knives on a roller 21, and the sheets folded transversely by a buckling folder 24, 25, 27, the roller 25 having suction ports at 26, 26a, 26b to strip the centre of each sheet from the roller 24, and the sheets are then stripped from the roller 25 by fingers 28 engaging in grooves 29 in the roller 25, the sheets then being presented to four sides of fingers 31, 32, 33, 34, see also Fig. 6, in sets 35, 36. At one time, the set 36 engages the bottom of a stack which is formed on them, and after a predetermined number are stacked the set 35 presses on the top of the stack and a new stack is formed on the set 35. The first stack is removed by a clip 45 on a conveyer 44, and the set 36 is orbited by cams and linkages such as 68, 70, 73, 74 through paths 46, Fig. 10, to a position 47, to engage the new stack, and so on. The unengaged centre part of the top of each stack bulges upwards to engage frictionally the bottom of the next stack.
