Abstract
1,161,706. Fuel injection pumps. KUGELFISCHER GEORG SCH€FER & CO. March 31, 1967 [May 18, 1966], No.14815/67. Heading F1A. [Also in Division G3] In a f. i. pump in which the quantity of fuel delivered is regulated by means of a sleeve 25 controlling a spill port 26, the sleeve being adjusted by means of a centrifugal governor 2, the quantity of fuel delivered is further adjusted by a cam face 8 on a piston 9 subjected to the pressure of the fuel from the feed pump 10 which pressure is dependent on the driven speed, the cam face modifying the action of the governor control sleeve through the shaft 3. The governor sleeve 5 has a groove 27 engaging a lever 28 pivoted at one end and at the other engaging an arm 33 on a shaft 34 having an eccentric head 35 engaging a groove in the control sleeve 25. Initial setting is by means of an eccentric bush 37. The governed speed is selected by a lever 47, which vanes the loading by spring 6. The governor sleeve is damped under light load conditions by a spring arrangement 41, 42 within the shaft 3 which is contacted by a pin passing through slots 46 in the shaft 3 and engaging the governor sleeve. The piston 23 is rotated and reciprocated by means of the cam plate 19 and rollers 16.
