Abstract

1,161,444. Joint making packing. DAIMLER-BENZ A.G. 25 Sept., 1967 [28 Sept., 1966], No. 43422/67. Heading F2B. A cylinder head gasket comprises a metal plate 1 having on each side of the plate integral raised marginal portions 22 around the gas and liquid openings 2-13, the portions having plane sealing surfaces 24 proud of the plate surface. The cylinder head bolt holes 14-21 are surrounded by integral marginal portions 23 having support surfaces 25 in the same plane as the sealing surfaces 24. The gasket is preferably made from copper alloy but may be of copper, aluminium, aluminium alloys or mild steel and may be coated with aluminium or a rubber-base or plastics-base substance.
