Abstract

1,160,544. Air cooling installations. R. F. MILTON. 22 Aug., 1966 [10 June, 1965], No. 24568/65. Heading F4S. A heat exchanger for preventing the condensation of moisture on articles contained in a closed compartment comprises an outer stainless steel tube 11, having a conical portion 12 at its lower end leading to a collecting tube 14 connected to a drain 15 which extends out of the compartment, a copper helical pipe coil 21 through which brine at approx. 2‹ C. is pumped from a refrigerating unit outside the compartment, and a fan 20 having an electric motor 19 mounted on bracket 18 for drawing air upwardly through the heat exchanger, moisture condensing from the air due to cooling and running off via drain 15. Fibreglass insulation 17 is provided between the tube 11 and an outer casing 16. The fan may be omitted, in which case air circulates in the opposite direction due to convection.
