Abstract
1,159,284. Screen printing front plate of sign. J. OETIKER. 1 Feb., 1967, No. 4882/67. Heading G5C. The front plate of a sign of the kind which is illuminable from the rear is made by printing a raster or screen on a transparent plate by a screen printing process using a dark grey to black transparent lacquer, the raster having per square centimetre between 50 and 70 equal sized non-printed areas such that the surface ratio of printed to non-printed areas is at least 3: 1. The plate appears dark in colour in daylight but light in colour when illuminated. The non-printed areas are equal sized squares arranged in off-set parallel rows, the spacing a between two adjacent squares of a row being approximately twice the side b of a square. The lacquer is preferably black acrylic lacquer mixed in 1 to 3 proportions with transparent acrylic lacquer.
