Abstract
1,159,117. Garments. A. L. WILLIAMS. 1 Aug., 1966, No. 34447/66. Heading A3V. Individual breast cups, for use as foundation garments or swim wear, each comprise an inner generally segments-shaped frame 10 comprising stiff fabric with extensions 32 and 38 and an outer layer 22, of elastic material e.g. latex, which is sewn to the frame 10 at 25 and extends beyond' the upper edge 28 of the frame to cover the upper portion of the breast. An adhesive coating 14 over the whole inner face of the frame 10 which in transit is covered' by a further fabric layer. 16, is partly exposed ready for use of the cup by the removal of the layer 16 from the extensions 32 and 38 and from a marginal strip beyond? a line of weakness 18 formed in the layer 16. The cups pack-flat and are made into adjustable cup shapes by adhesively securing extensions 32 and 38 with their ends overlapping to a selected degree and engaging a hook 36 on the layer 22 with an eyelet 34 in the extension 32. The layer 22 may include pleats 33 and/or darts (not shown).
