Abstract

1,158,145. Briquetting char. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. 8 Nov., 1966 [10 Aug., 1965], No. 34137/65. Heading C5G. In a method of briquetting coal in which the coal is heated to remove part of its volatile content, the heated product (char) being then briquetted, the char contains not more than 6% b.w. of material having a particle size less than 240 B.S.S. Heating is preferably performed in a fluidized bed, and fine material carried off by the fluidizing gases is separated into a fine fraction which is rejected and a coarse fraction which is led to the feed to the briquetting apparatus (extrusion press). Two separators may be employed in series.
