Abstract
1,157,389. Lamp caps. BRITISH LIGHTING INDUSTRIES Ltd. 9 Oct., 1967, No. 46035/67. Heading H2E. [Also in Division H1] A double-ended lamp has two filaments and a wedge base at each end. The filaments 10, 13 are parallel to one another and connected to lead-in wires 11, 12 and 14, 15 passing through the press seals 16, 21 and folded back to provide lamp contacts. At one end the leads 11, 14 are folded back on the same side of the press seal 16, while at the other the two leads are folded back on opposite sides of the press seal 21. The press seal 21 may have a locating groove 23 on each of its sides and the press seal 16 may have a single groove 18. The exhaust tube 25 may pass through one of the press seals. In a modification, the lamp may comprise an outer envelope with wedge bases at each end, enclosing two inner envelopes containing the separate filaments, the contact-making ends of the leads being arranged in the same way as before and similar locating grooves being provided. The inner envelopes are supported in the outer envelope by spring clips, and may contain a fill gas with an addition of halogen.
