Abstract

A tool for parting off and chamfering a tube 11 comprises a shaft 12 rotatable by a ratchet wrench 20, a cutter 29 slidable in a bore 13 in the shaft, a rod 23 movable in an axial bore in the shaft for adjusting the cutter radially, and a spring-urged block 27 for holding the cutter in bore 13. Rod 23 is screw-threaded at 23A, and co-operates with a thread in the axial bore of the shaft 12 so that the rod moves axially to engage the cutter when rotated by a knob 24. The depth of cut of the tool is controlled by a collar 18 adjustably located on shaft 12. In order to adapt the tool so as to operate on tubes of larger diameter at least one adaptor 30, Fig. 6, is provided, which is located on the shaft 12 by keys 30A and a spring-urged ball detent 31. Spring-urged block 27 may be replaced by having a cutter which is magnetized.
