Abstract

1,156,605. Ratchet gearing; valves. ETHER Ltd. 29 March, 1968 [29 March, 1967], No. 14405/67. Headings F2Q and F2V. [Also in Divisions F1 and H1] Sequence control apparatus comprises control devices 24 operable by actuating members positioned in apertures 18a in control member 18 rotatable by an inducing mechanism comprising an index plate 13 coupled to control member 18. Plate 13 carries pins 26 co-operating with an indexing member 27 having a triangular detent portion 35 to engage between adjacent pins 26 to prevent rotation of control member 18 and having a transfer portion with an inclined face 34a which when indexing member 27 is moved inwards cams the pins 26 round so that when the indexing member is moved outwards detent portion 35 engages between the bent pair of pins 26. As shown, half the movement of each pin 26 is caused by face 34a and half by face 35b. The inwards movement of indexing member 27 is caused by pneumatic piston 28 and cylinder 29 and the return outwards movement by spring 36. Alternatively, the movement may be caused by an electromagnet (not shown). The assembly is mounted on a shaft 12 supported in bearings in support 11. The control member 18 can be removed from the shaft by unscrewing knurled nut 22, and the shaft 12 can be removed by unscrewing bolt 15. Control devices 24b are electric switches and 24a pneumatic valves.
