Abstract

1,154,393. Supplying cops to a winding machine. SHIMADZU SEISAKUSHO Ltd. 16 Nov., 1966, No. 51362/66. Headings D1F and D1J. Supply cops are fed by a conveyor B from a container A to a magazine D, and immediately beforer passing to the magazine are rotated at 36c in the unwinding direction for the yarn end thus freed to be sucked into tube 19 of the magazine. At the top of the conveyor is a feeder section C having a pair of spiders 12a, (12b), the arms of spider 12a having spring pressed shafts to grip the cop tubes, with the shafts being retracted by cam means in order to be able to grip the cops tubes and also to release the cops into hopper 13 of the magazine. As the cops are moved by the conveyor B towards the feeder section B they are rotated by a friction roller in the unwinding direction of an air jet aided by suction blows the yarn end towards the "top" end of the cop where any excess length of yarn unwound is cut away. Further friction rollers are provided at positions 36a and 36c to rotate the cops in the unwinding direction and at position 36b to rotate the cops in the winding direction to prepare the cop for the unwinding at position 36c in case the yarn end in the previous unwinding operations had been wound up in the unwinding direction. Suction members 15a and 15b and cutters are provided at positions 36a and 36b and a yarn searcher-feeler at position 36b. Alternatively the cops may be rotated in the winding directions at position 36a and/or on the conveyor B.
