Abstract

1441792 Device for preparing cops for unwinding W REINERS VERWALTUNGS GmbH 9 Nov 1973 [14 Nov 1972] 52075/73 Headings D1F and D1J A device for preparing oops 3 for unwinding in which the cops are guided by transport means e.g. pocketed conveyor 1, on a path 6 along the contact line 7 of two rotating parallel rollers 8 and the thread end 10 is drawn off by the rollers, includes a conveyor plate 11 arranged in the guide path below a support 6 for the cop tube feet 5', the conveyor plate 11 having a plurality of yarn engaging teeth 12 and being displaceable transversely to the direction of transport of the cops. The support 6 is provided in the vicinity of the plate 11 with a corresponding number of tooth gaps 13. In use, the cops 3 are conveyed along the support 6 and the free thread end is gripped and drawn off by the rollers 8. When the cops pass the plate 11, the thread end 10' is engaged in the first tooth and tooth gap 12, 13. As the cop tube 5 passes the plate, a magnet 16 is actuated whereby the plate 11 performs a swinging movement transverse to the direction of cop travel, and the gripped thread end is moved to the next adjacent tooth gap. The length of thread pulled off the cop therefore increases as the cop travels and a cutter 15 is operated on each actuation of the magnet whereby the thread end 10' engaged in the last tooth gap 13' is severed and the end sucked into a store 14. The device ensures an adequate length of thread 10' is drawn off prior to the next processing step e.g. in an automatic winder.
