Abstract

1,151,028. Injecting pastes into high-pressure filters. POLYSIUS G.m.b.H. 18 Aug., 1967 [30 Sept., 1966], No. 38200/67. Heading B1D. Paste is injected into a high pressure filter press 6 by first injecting it by means of a high pressure pump 2 into a reservoir 3 filled with fluid under pressure, and then allowing this pressure to drive the paste into filter 6. As described, a medium pressure compressor 12 feeds air to a high pressure compressor 14 and also to storage tanks 13. Compressor 14 charges buffer reservoirs 4 and hence reservoir 3 to high pressure. Next, paste from storage reservoir 1 is forced into a reservoir 3 by pump 2, while a low pressure pump 5 fills filter 6 with paste. Owing to the large size of reservoirs 3, 4 and also to an automatic discharge valve 15 shunting compressor 14, injection of paste into reservoir 3 does not significantly increase the pressure therein. Valves 7, 8 are then closed and valve 9 opened, letting paste be forced into filter 6. After filtration, valve 10 is opened to allow compressed air in reservoirs 13 to flush out the liquid in filter 6 through valve 11.
