Abstract
1,150,325. Reduction of the phosphorus content of iron ore. FORACO Y PROYECTOS S.A. 24 April, 1967 [11 May, 1966], No. 18692/67. Addition to 1,115,949. Heading C1A. Iron ore is crushed to 50-500 microns, separated magnetically or gravimetrically from the gangue, immersed in between one and four times its weight of water and an acidic substance, e.g. sulphuric acid, is added to maintain the pH at 1 to 2, thereby to extract phosphorus, as phosphate ions, from the ore. The resulting solution may be used to treat further ore and the non-ore solid product may be used as a superphosphate manure.
