Abstract

1,148,420. Lubricating engine cylinders; joint-making packing. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. 12 Sept., 1967 [23 Sept., 1966], No. 41651/67. Headings F2B and F2T. In a water cooled internal combustion engine comprising a cylinder having a lubricating groove 4<SP>1</SP> in its working surface, oil is supplied to the groove through a conduit leading through the cylinder block without passing through a water space. The oil is fed through radial ducts 4 in the cylinder liner 1 and a screw-in element 6 passing through ribs 5 in the water jacket 3 and including a non-return valve 15. The element 6 is sealed to the jacket 3 by a gasket 11 and an 0-ring 12 and to the liner 1 by a gasket 7, leakage of oil or cooling water at the gasket 7 being drained via grooves 8 or 9 respectively to a bore 10.
