Abstract
1,148,379. Spheroidal graphite iron: alloys. METALLGESELLSCHAFT A. G, and SUDDEUTSCHE KALKSTICKSTOFFWERKE A.G. Aug. 8, 1966 [Aug.10, 1965], No.35423/66. Headings C7A and C7D. To produce a spheroidal graphite structure molten cast iron is treated with porous coke which has been saturated with a magnesium alloy so that it contains more than 15% by weight of the latter. Treatment may be effected in a ladle the internal height of which is approximately double the internal diameter while the composition of the alloy lies within one of the following ranges: (a) (b) (c) Mg 60 - 90 80 - 85 65 - 70 Ca 3-12 8-9 9 4-8 Si 5 - 30 8 - 15 10 - 20 R.E. - 1 - 3 10 - 20 Fe 0-10 0-10 0-10 Ratio Mg: Ca 5:1 to 15.1 9:1 to 11:1 10:1 to 16:1 Ratio Mg: R.E. - 20:1 to 60:1 3À5:1 to 7:1
