Abstract
1,148,331. Lubricating. EATON YALE & TOWNE Inc. 31 March, 1967 [27 May, 1966], No. 14923/67. Heading F2A. [Also in Division F1] In a lubricating system of an I.C. engine, lubricant flows from a passage in the engine block into a first groove 32 of a tappet, and passes by a flow controlling means to a second groove 34 in the tappet and thence to a hollow push rod 26. The flow control comprises a land 36 spaced by a predetermined amount from a bore 16 in the engine block. Flow from groove 34 is through radial passage 56, space 52 and passage 54 in a socket member 42 supporting push rod 26 on a part-spherical surface 50. In Fig. 3 (not shown), a push rod is supported directly on the tappet.
