Abstract

1,143,257. Electro-depositing nickel. JOHN PRESTON & CO. (CHEMICALS) Ltd. Oct.19, 1967 [Nov. 9, 1966], No.50192/66. Addition to 1, 026, 987. Heading C7B. An aqueous nickel electro-plating solution contains at least one nickel salt, e. g. sulphate, chloride, formate, fluoborate and/or sulphamate, and 0À005 to 0À2g/l of a hydrochloride of an N- disubstituted amino alkyl acetylene having either of the formulae: wherein Rl or R2 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, hydroxy alkyl, alkoxy (alkyl), aryl, aralkyl, alkaryl, cycloalkyl or - alkinyl or heterocyclic (including both forming part of a ring structure), provided both are not methyl; R3 or R4 is H or an alkyl containing 1 to 6 C atoms, provided that if R4 has more than 2C atoms R3 is H; and n is 1, 2 or 3. Examples are diethyl or dipropyl amino propyne hydrochloride. The solution may also include NaCl or NaBr, 30-37À5 g/l H 3 BO3, 0À5-2 g/l saccharin, 0À005 - 2 g/l acetanilide, and at least 0À1 g/ 1 of a sulpho-oxygen compound, such as an unsaturated aliphatic or mono-or binuclear aromatic or heterocyclic sulphonic acid, or alkali metal, ammonium, Mg or Ni salt thereof, or a mononuclear aromatic sulphinic acid (or salt thereof), sulphonamide or sulphonimide.
