Abstract

1,142,953. Laminated paper. KOKUSAKO PULP INDUSTRY CO. Ltd. 29 April, 1966 [8 May, 1965; 1 Sept., 1965], No. 18834/66. Heading B5N. [Also in Division B8] A process for making a laminated paper comprises applying a molten polyolefine layer to one surface of a paper sheet, laminating a fabric made of a film-forming material tape to said molten polyolefine layer and cooling the fabricated product. In preferred embodiments, a paper sheet is bonded to each surface of the fabric or a fabric is bonded to each surface of a paper sheet. " Tape " is defined as being a material whose width is substantially greater than its thickness but wherein the width is less than 10 mm. and the thickness is from about 0À02 mm. The paper may be made from conventional wood pulps or from fibres of linen, jute, hemp, sisal, glass, rock, slag, polyamides, polyesters, polyacrylonitrile, polyvinyl alcohol or rayon and may be creped, or embossed, coated, impregnated or laminated. Specified film-forming materials are polyethylene, polypropylene and regenerated cellulose, the fabric being woven, knitted or netted. The polyolefines e.g. polyethylene or polypropylene are preferably applied by extrusion.
