Abstract

1,142,643. Impression cylinders. E. KUSTERS, [trading as EDUARD KUSTERS MASCHINENFABRIK]. 24 Feb., 1966 [25 Feb., 1965], No. 8245/66. Heading B6C. [Also in Division F2] An impression cylinder 2 comprises a sleeve 5 of polyurethane having a Shore A hardness of between 88 and 98 degrees-preferably formed in a centrifugal mould-mounted on a steel supporting cylinder 6. In a modified cylinder an oversized sleeve 5 is fitted on a known rubber coated cylinder. This may be further modified by eliminating the rubber coating. In another embodiment the sleeve 5 is mounted with radial clearance on a floating roller 1. The latter comprises a stationary central spindle extending through a radially spaced tubular roller member. Two diametrically opposed longitudinal seals divide the space between spindle and member into two chambers, the chamber adjacent the cylinder co-operating with the impression cylinder when the latter is in the press being filled with a pressure fluid. In a modification of this impression cylinder the sleeve 5 is dispensed with, whilst the tubular roller member is made of polyurethane of the required hardness.
