Abstract

1,142,403. Chains. TEXTRON Inc. 24 Jan., 1967 [15 Aug., 1966], No. 3463/67. Heading F2Q. [Also in Division A3] An inextensible series of links for adjusting the length of a bracelet comprises pairs of staggered, superimposed links 20, 21 each of which has inwardly projecting members providing a longitudinal central gap 21G and side gaps 21H. A spring 23 in each upper link has a catch 23A which engages in superimposed pairs of side gaps. The lower links are narrower than the top links which enables the catch 23A to be pressed upwardly between a pair of adjacent lower links to release it from the side gaps and allow a pair of upper and lower links to be slid longitudinally to disengage. The length of the bracelet can then be adjusted. In another embodiment the upper links have ornamental shells and a spring is inserted in each lower link. In a further embodiment fastening tabs on the shells form sides of the gaps in the upper links.
