Abstract

1,141,298. Disc brakes. DUNLOP CO. Ltd. 9 May, 1966 [14 May, 1965], No. 20380/65. Heading F2E. A brake disc assembly comprises a spider, as is described in Specification 1,119,207, having at its outer periphery an axially extending cylindrical portion which has a flat annular end face, the spider being rotatable with the hub of a vehicle wheel, and a disc 1, which is formed of two portions 2, 3 each secured by bolts to the end face of the cylindrical portion and which is keyed to the spider by drive dogs inserted into slots 4 in the disc portions and in the spider, so that there is provided an annular disc split in a diametral plane. The ends of the disc portions are chamfered as at 13 to provide a smooth passage for the friction pads over the gaps between the adjacent ends of the disc portions as the disc rotates.
