Abstract
1,140,627. Knitting-machines. EMPISAL (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. 7 April, 1967 [20 April. 1966], No. 16047/67. Heading D1C. A flat needle bed comprises a corrugated section 10 in which the needles move and strengtheners 12, 14 mounted at the front and back of the corrugated section. The strengthener 14 comprises two parts 38, 40 bolted together with slots 46, 48 through which the needles run. The part 40 has extensions 42 which fit in the corrugations. The flange 36 groups the top of the corrugations and two slideable bars 50, 52 which press the needles against the plate 40 the lower bar 52 being of resilient material. The rear strengthener has two parts 22, 28 which hold the rear of the corrugated part. Needle movement is restricted by the flanges 30, 36 and the surface 24 provides a support for the cam carriage. The corrugations may be filled with a plastics strengthening material. The two strengtheners 12, 14 are held together by a plate 54.
