Abstract

1,139,240. Blasting. R. PIQUET. 21 Dec., 1966, No. 57093/66. Heading B3D. A sand blasting device of the type where the jet of sand is enclosed within an annulus of atomized water comprises a metal ferrule 1 adapted to be fixed to the end of a flexible conduit in which flows sand and air under relatively high pressure, a nozzle 2 is fixed on the ferrule by a sleeve 3 screwed on the ferrule. The sleeve 3 is capped by a diffusion head 4 having an opening 5 opposite the nozzle 2 and a circular array of small diameter passages 6 communicating with the annular chamber 7 between the nozzle 1 and sleeve 3. A boss 10 communicating with the chamber 7 is adapted to be connected with a flexible conduit through which water and air under pressure are supplied.
