Abstract

1,138,877. Selective printing. SIEMENS A.G. 7 Sept., 1966 [8 Sept., 1965], No. 39964/66. Heading B6F. A method of printing a number of copies at a time, comprises the steps of forming an electromagnetic or electrostatic image on an endless carrier strip 1, inking the images, moving the strip in the direction of a line, or obliquely to the line past a number of record webs 7, 7<SP>1</SP> on which data is to be printed, and transferring the images to each web. The characters are formed by a recording head 4, which may be of the type which builds up the character by a series of elements columnby-column, and the electrographic image is dusted by ink particles 6 in a chamber 5. The characters are transferred to the record web, at a-line-at-a-time, by hammers 8. Surplus dust is wiped off at 10 and the endless carrier on which the electrographic images still remain, is redusted at 5<SP>1</SP> for the production of the second record web 7<SP>1</SP>. An erase head 9 prepares the strip for further entry of data by the recording. heads 4. The record webs 7, 7<SP>1</SP> may be stepped lineby-line or continuously in which case the carrier strip 1 is fed obliquely.
