Abstract

1,138,106. Detergent tablets. FMC CORP. 10 June, 1967, No. 26889/67. Heading C5D. Detergent tablets made by compressing a mixture comprising sodium tripolyphosphate, a water-soluble non-ionic synthetic organic detergent, water and 0À5-10% by weight of a water-soluble polyol which is an aliphatic or a cycloalpihatic polyol or polyethylene glycol or polypropylene glycol. have uniformly high strengths and disintegrate rapidly in heated water. Suitably the aliphatic and cycloaliphatic polyols have 2 to 12 carbon atoms and the polyethylene glycol and polypropylene glyool have molecular weights of up to 2000, the sodium tripolyphosphate and the detergent are present in from 35-65% and 6-14% by weight respectively. Sodium silicate and sodium carboxymethylcellulose may also be present.
