1,134,534. Lamps enclosed in envelopes. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC:. &:. ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES. Ltd. 4 April, 1967. [7 April, 1966], No 15308/67. Heading F4R. [Also in Division H1] An elongated incandescent lamp having a bulb 1 of circular cross-section is enclosed in an elongated envelope 3 having a diffusing action and provided with contact caps 22 to which the leads 21 from the bulb aire connected, the smallest distance between the wall of the envelope and its longitudinal axis being more than 1.5 and preferably 2.5 times the radius of the bulb. The envelope may be of coloured synthetic material and may. have the surface grooved or formed with conical facets to vary the light transmission. The bulb may be mounted coaxially of the envelope by resilient spread springs 19.
