Abstract

1,131,849. Opening containers. PLATMANUFAKTUR, A.B. 23 March, 1967 [24 March, 1966], No. 13813/67. Heading B8D. [Also in Division B5] A container end component, which may be seamed to a container body by means of its peripheral part 9, is formed initially with a discontinuous slit 2-4 which is filled by part of a segmented plastics ring 16 moulded in position and forming means for opening the container. As the mould closes on the component, bridges 5-7 are broken, so that when the upper part of the ring is torn off in subsequent use the centre part 8 of the end component can be removed. The ring may be injection moulded (see Division B5) in plastics, e.g. polyethylene, with an integral tear-tab (18,) Fig. 7 (not shown). The component may be of metal, plastics-coated paper, or paper, and the part 8 of any convenient shape.
