Abstract

1,129,286. Spray producers. SOCIETE TECHNIQUE DE PULVERISATION. 12 Oct., 1965 [16 Oct., 1964], No. 43221/65. Addition to 1008612. Heading B2F. A spray device has an outlet jet 44 and a passage 5 which can extend into a vessel for the liquid to be sprayed, e.g. perfume, first obturating means 50 for sealing communication between the jet 44 and passage 5, second obturating means 43a for sealing a second passage between the interior of the vessel and the atmosphere, a support member 38 housing jet 44 being movable in relation to stopper 1 for the vessel and providing a common actuating element for unsealing both obturating means, and a variable volume compressed air chamber 55 in communication with jet 44 and formed between member 38 and a moveable operating member 52. As shown in Fig. 1, sleeve 3 in component 1 form a stopper for the vessel. The stopper is independent of the support member 38 and can slide therein. Member 38 and stopper 3 are resiliently biased away from each other by springs 42. Bored cylindrical pin 43 provided with shoulder 43a is slidable within sleeve 3, its movement being limited by lugs 3a. Engagement of the upper surface of this pin with the stopper providing the second obturating means. Spray nozzle 44 is in communication with the vessel by throat 46, passage 45 and axial bore 47 which bore is provided in rod 48 attached to disc member 41 and mounted to slide in the bore in pin 43 in accordance with movement of the support member 38. Valve head 50 on rod 48 constitutes the first obturating means. Button 52 acts as the moveable operating member and is slidably mounted in the support member 38, biased by coil spring 54 which is stronger than springs 42. Variable volume chamber 55 disposed between the seal 53 and the disc member 43 communicates such jet 44 through passages 56 and 57 the latter being normally closed by spring ball valve 58. Button 52 is provided with central orifice 60 through which chamber 55 communicates with the atmosphere. Pressure on button 52 moves support member 38 downwards and also moves rod 48, valve head 50 and bored pin 43, unsealing both obturating means. When downward movement of the support member 38 is halted by disc 41 engaging stopper 1 the button 52 then moves into support 38 compressing the air and discharging it through nozzle 44.
