Abstract
1,122,882. Discharging pneumatically conveyed material. VOKES Ltd. 19 April, 1967 [21 April, 1966], No. 17502/66. Heading B8A. An apparatus facilitating the continuous discharge of material from a pneumatic conveying system comprises a chamber 10 having a conveyed material inlet 20 and alternately operable conveying air outlets 22a, 22b which when open hold material against a screen 11 and when not open permit material to fall from the screen to an outlet 21a controlled by a cellular wheel airlock valve 21. The chamber 10 is divided into upper and lower chambers 12, 13 by the mesh screen 11 which is inclined from the chamber walls to a vertical wall 15 dividing the upper chamber into two compartments 12a, 12b. The outlets 22a, 22b are controlled by flap valves coupled through a common linkage system to a pair of solenoids, the operation of which are controlled either according to a time cycle or due to a pressure differential between opposite sides of the screen 11. The airlock outlet valve for the material may be formed by a multiple shutter arrangement.
