Abstract
A process for producing dispersion strengthened lead comprises intimately mixing lead powder and a refractory oxide powder in an oxidizing atmosphere, reducing the majority of the lead oxide content and subjecting the mixture to a forming process (e.g. extrusion). The mixing is preferably carried out in a ball mill and the refractory oxide is preferably alumina in an amount of 0.1 -10 vol %.
