Abstract
1,121,931. Bending. SOC. DE CONSTRUCTIONS DE MONTBARD. 3 Feb., 1966 [3 Feb., 1965], No. 4825/66. Heading B3E. Apparatus for bending sections or tubes comprises an upper die member fixed on a swan neck on the upper part of the machine frame and lower die members movable towards the upper member by driving means situated on that side of the vertical bending plane under the swan neck. A workpieee O, to be bent around a die 13 fixed to the upper part of the machine frame, is laid across aligned lower die members 39, 55, 39. The member 55 is carried by a jack V3, on a slide B, and the members 39 are carried eccentrically on shafts 35, journalled in adjustable bearings 32 on the slide B and connected by crank arms 42 with hydraulic jacks V2 pivoted at 49 to the slide B. Pressure fluid is supplied simultaneously to a jack V1, which lifts the slide B, and to the jack V3 so that the die member 55 holds the work O against the upper die member 13 and the slide B is caused to rise to press the tools 39 up around the sides of the die 13 against the braking action of the jacks V2. The machine frame forms a housing for the hydraulic jack fluid. A valve, Fig. 7 (not shown), with an adjustable spring is provided on the discharge side of the jacks V2 so as to create a partial vacuum below their piston during the rise of the tools 39.
