The boring means of a tunnelling machine comprises a pilot hole-drilling roller bit and peripherally toothed milling cutters having axes inclined to the axis of rotation of the head and radially spaced of the roller bit for the subsequent enlargement of the pilot hole to the full section of the gallery as, the machine is advanced solely by the thrust of the tracked chassis of the machine.
