1,120,640. Continuous tunnel kilns. A. HASSLER. 28 Feb., 1966 [1 March, 1965; 25 Nov., 1965], No. 8623/66. Heading F4B. In a continuous tunnel kiln for firing ceramics, the air flow in the kiln is periodically reversed by fans (3) and (4) disposed toward each end of the tunnel and connected externally by a pipe (5), Fig. 2 (not shown). Fan (3) may be disposed in a chimney (1) at the entrance end of the tunnel. In modifications, the reversed flow is restricted to outer zones of the tunnel, Fig. 3 (not shown), or the reversed flows may overlap the firing zone, Fig. 4 (not shown).
