Abstract

1,120,363. Peak analysis. BRITISH RAILWAYS BOARD, and G. S. DRURY. 25 May, 1966 [23 Nov., 1965], No. 49674/65. Heading G4H. In a peak analysis system, the effects of spurious peaks and troughs are eliminated. ADC produces 90 degrees phase-displaced pulse trains representing increments of the input variable. DLC is phase-sensitive and provides a train of pulses on lead F or R, and MCIG produces a pulse each time the trend of the variable reverses, i.e. at each peak and trough, to reset divide-by-ten counter CTR10. If counter CTR10 subsequently receives seven pulses from ADC before the next pulse from MCIG, a pulse R/O is produced to read out counter CTR6 which is cascaded to CTR10 via CTR2. The excursion of the variable between successive peaks and troughs is assigned different statistical weights according to the magnitude of the excursion. The output of decoder DCR6 indicates which statistical band the detected peak lies in, each band being 20 increments wide. An output 1-5 from DCR6 opens gate TG2 to feed clock pulses to counters CTR s and CTR x until a number corresponding to the statistical weighting of the band is registered in CTR s . Counters CTR2, CTR6 and CTR s are then reset. If counter CTR10 does not receive seven pulses before being reset by the next pulse from MCIG, no pulses are supplied to CTR s and CTR x . CTR x controls neon lamps and a printer for read-out.
