Abstract
1,119,179. Aircraft undercarriages. NESSIER. 8 Feb., 1966 [2 Nov., 1965], No. 5479/66. Heading B7G. An aircraft undercarriage comprises a leg 5 mounted on the aircraft by a brace 6 attached near its lower end and a pivoting link 11 at its upper end, the leg thus being able to move up and down to compress and extend a shock absorber 14 between the leg 5 and the link 11, and the geometry is such that the two extreme positions of the leg during such up and down movement are parallel to one another. The leg is retracted rearwardly by breaking the brace 6. Twin nosewheels 1 are mounted on the leg, are steerable by a jack, 10, and are held in, or turned to, a position in which their axle is transverse during retraction by the jack 10 or by cams.
