Abstract
1,115,966. Movable magnet switches. G. B. JEFFERY. 22 Sept., 1966, No. 42416/66. Heading H1N. A rotary switch having a magnetized member 6 movable to actuate sealed magnetic reed contact units 8 has one of the reeds or an extension thereof " closely adjacent " the path of the member 6. The member 6 on the shaft 5 is polarized by a permanent magnet 7 or an electromagnet and has projection 12 which passes close to the reed contacts 10 outside the glass enclosures of the contact units. A magnetic member or disc at the other end of the permanent magnet may also pass near the reed 10 (Figs. 6 and 7, not shown). Alternatively the magnet may be on the shaft between the contact units with members 6 at each end cooperating with the contact reeds (Fig. 8, not shown). The ends of the reeds 10 may be fitted into magnetic extension pieces having edges close to the path of the member 6 (Figs. 10 and 11, not shown). In Fig. 12, the projection 12 is axial and the sealed magnetic contact units 8 are radially mounted.
