Abstract

1,114,757. Transmission arrangement. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. 20 March, 1967 [11 Nov., 1966], No. 50713/66. Heading B7H. [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] A motor vehicle transmission arrangement comprises an engine (not shown) loaded adjacent a final drive unit 10 for a pair of road wheels, change-speed gearing 22 located between an engine driven clutch 12 and an interaxle differential 36 having a first output shaft 46 connected through transfer gearing 50, 52 to unit 10, and a second output shaft 48 connected to drive a second pair of road wheels through a second final drive unit. The output from the gearing 22 is via the main shaft 28, but may alternatively be via the layshaft. The gearing 22 is of the constant-mesh type with double-ended synchromesh or dog-tooth clutches 30 and an idler gear 32 of a reverse gear train. The transfer gearing may be replaced by a chain or toothed belt drive.
