Abstract

1,112,804. Magnetic recording &c. heads. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORPORATION. 27 May, 1966 [2 June, 1965], No. 23913/66. Heading G5R. Two independent signals on the same track may be recorded or read simultaneously by a head comprising two intersecting air gaps 30, 31 formed by four polepieces 32, 33, 34, 35, each air gap having a separate magnetic circuit and winding 37 or 38. The magnetic circuits are completed through a cross-shaped member 36 which carries the windings 37, 38 on its diagonals. The two air gaps 30, 31 are preferably at right-angles to each other and at 45 degrees to the direction of movement 41 of the tape 40.
