Abstract
1,111,408. Variable resistors. RIZHSKY ZAVOD " AVTOELEKTROPRIBOR ". 20 Feb., 1967, No. 7943/67. Heading H1S. [Also in Division G1] A liquid level indicator comprising a float linked to the slider of a rheostat in series with a battery and water is characterized in that the rheostat and its slider are rotatably adjustable. The rheostat winding 8 (Fig. 2) is wound on a former 7, one end of which is pivoted at 5 and the other end adjustably secured by a screw 17 and spring 18. The slider 9 is a flat resilient strip bent back on itself, with one arm 14 (Fig. 3) located in a U-shaped bracket 15, and the other arm 10 attached by a screw 29 in a sleeve to the arm of the float, whereby the slider is angularly adjustable for zero reading on the meter when the tank is empty. The correct full reading is obtained by angular adjustment of the former 7 about pivot 5 using screw 17. The angle 2 (Fig. 3) between the two arms of slider 9 is adjusted to obtain the desired contact pressure.
