Abstract

1,110,920. Cooling material discharged from kilns. RHEINISCHE KALKSTEINWERKE G.m.b.H. 28 Sept., 1966 [1 Oct., 1965], No. 43405/66. Heading F4B. Air used in cooling material from a rotary kiln 1 is supplied to the space between the burner flame and the burning material as heated secondary air, and cooler, externally heated air is supplied to the space above the flame. The material from the kiln 1 enters a shaft cooler 3 wherein air is forced upwardly through the material and is withdrawn through a central fitting 4 by induction in a pipe 9. Air from a regenerator (not shown) is blown into the pipe 9 to induce flow of the secondary air from the cooler, and is also introduced to the kiln 1 above the flame. The secondary air from the cooler is not more than 100‹ C. cooler than the material being cooled. The shaft cooler may be rotary, incorporating seals 13. A scraper 15 removes material from the bottom of the cooler. Valves 10, 11 regulate the flow of air from the regenerator.
