Abstract
1,110,192. Coil windings. HEINEMANN ELECTRIC CO. 24 June, 1966 [6 July, 1965], No. 28438/66. Heading H1P. In an electrical coil, e.g. for a voltage relay an insulating, e.g. nylon spool has integral flange 14 at one end extending from a hollow core and a pair of adjacent integral flanges 16, 18 at the other end having therebetween an open channel 25; flange 16 being notched at one corner and flange 18 being recessed at 35 to receive magnetic laminations and having a shorter side omitted. The entry surface of the channel is coplanar with the surface of the core and is chamfered at 45 to join the raised base of the channel. The start end 33 of the insulated winding 20 is laid into the channel section A, and the required number of turns are applied after which the ends are taped to the spool and insulated heavier leads are soldered thereto. The start end lead wire and its soldered joint to the winding extending through the notched corner are laid in the channel 25 and carried round sections A, B, C thereof, while the finish end lead wire 29 is taped to the winding at 60 and its free end laid and carried round the section of the channel in wedging relation to lead 27. A layer of tape is then applied to the centre exterior of the wound spool, which may alternately be circular.
