Abstract

1,109,717. Suction lifting heads. L. F. BLATT. 18 July, 1966 [21 Feb., 1966], No. 32149/66. Heading B8H. [Also in Divisions B3 and B6] A suction cup 16 is moved in a horizontal plane by a ram 10 and in a vertical plane by a ram 12. The piston-rod (44), Fig. 2 (not shown), of the latter comprises a rack which rotates pinions (40), (42), thereby raising and lowering a rack (46) which is perpendicular to the rack (44) and supports the cup 16 on an arm 48. The cylinder of the ram 12 is mounted on the pistonrod of the ram 10. The suction cup is adjustably mounted on the arm 48, Fig. 3 (not shown). Reduced pressure is produced in the cup by blowing compressed air through a jet (74), Fig. 4 (not shown), in a venturi (72).
