Abstract
1,108,939. Bearings. DOWTY TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENTS Ltd. 14 June, 1965 [17 June, 1964], No. 25204/64. Heading F2A. [Also in Division F1] In a rotary bearing one of the bearing surfaces of two relatively rotatable members has at least a pair of separate recesses 32, 33, 34, 35 substantially continuously closed by the bearing surface of the other member which are intermittently supplied with liquid through respective restrictors 36, 37, 38, 39. The recesses and restrictors which are in the surface of the valve plate of an axial piston pump or motor are intermittently connected to ports 43 and 42, communicating with the supply and delivery ports 29 and 31 of the plate, by means of dimples 47 in the bearing surface of the pump or motor cylinder block. Pairs of recesses and restrictors may be provided in both bearing surfaces. An annular groove 49 and a recess 48 in the valve plate collect leakage liquid which is returned through recesses 52, 53 and a slot (51), Fig. 2 (not shown), in a spigot (3) supporting the cylinder block to a housing surrounding the block. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 984,721.
