Abstract

1,108,932. Centrifugal fans. W. T. TEAGLE. May 4, 1965 [May 4, 1964], No.18406/64. Heading F1C. A rotor blade 1, Fig. 4, for a centrifugal fan comprises a sheet metal pressing having a dished leading surface, a swept-back outer end 8 and a central longitudinally extending rib 4 which terminates in a slot 6. As shown, the blade crosssection may comprise two arcuate portions 3 which intersect to form the central rib 4. Alternatively, two flat portions (17), Fig. 8 (not shown) with curved ends (18) may be provided. A spider 14 is welded to a cylindrical hub 11, a pair of supporting discs 12 being welded to the hub and to the fan shaft 10. The slotted end of each blade 1 fits over the spider 14 and is welded to the hub 11, the rib 4 being welded to an arm 15 of the spider. Annular side plates 16 are welded to the blades.
