Abstract
1,108,678. Hook fastenings. AERPAT A.G. 20 Aug., 1965 [21 Aug., 1964], No. 35735/65. Heading E2A. A combined handle and latch mechanism for use with a drawer of a cabinet, comprises a handle 10 adapted to be secured to a drawer, a lever 46 movably mounted on the handle, the lever being movable into and out of an engaging position in which it engages a keeper 40, 44 in the cabinet, when the drawer is in the closed position, to retain the drawer therein, first latch means 58 movable between a latching position in which it engages the lever 46 when the lever is in the engaging position and in unlatching position in which it allows the lever to move from the engaging position, and second latch means 70 operable selectively to prevent or allow movement of the first latch means 58 out of its latching position. As shown the lever 46 is provided with a hook member 50 for engagement with the keeper memiber 40 secured to the cabinet 38 whereby to releasably retain the unit in the cabinet. The lever 46 is retained in the position shown against the bias of a buffer 56 by the latch means 58 which is prevented from being inadvertently operated by the latch 70 which may be pivoted upwardly from the position shown to permit manual operation of the latch means 58.
