Abstract
Ball-point pen pastes which may contain a phenol-modified cyclohexanone or methylcyclohexanone resin are characterized by a phthalocyanine dyestuff:- <FORM:1108057/C3/1> wherein R1, R2 and R3 represent the same o different lower alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups, X- is a hydroxyl ion or the anion of an inorganic or organic acid, particularly acetate, Pc is a phthalocyanine radical and n is 2-4. The dyestuff, with or without an auxiliary acid or basic dyestuff, may be dissolved in benzyl alcohol and/or at least one higher glycol selected from diethylene glycol, phenyl glycol (C6H5-CHOHCH2OH), propylene glycol, butyl diglycol (n-C4H9OCH2CH2OCH2CH2OH) or hexane triol, and mixed with the synthetic resin. The blue inks of Examples 1, 3, 4 and 5 based on a phenol-modified cyclohexanone resin and of Example 2 containing phthalic acid hexane triol ester also contain a triphenylmethane base or acetate thereof, or a dicyclohexylamine salt of an acid monoazo pyrazolone dyestuff, and, in Examples 1, 4 and 5, olein.ALSO:Ball-point pen pastes contain a phthalocyanine dyestuff of the general formula <FORM:1108057/C4-C5/1> wherein R1, R2 and R3 represent the same o different lower alkyl or hydroxyalkyl groups, X(-) is a hydroxyl anion or the anion of an inorganic or organic acid, Pc is a phthalocyanine radical, and n is 2-4. The dyestuff with or without an auxiliary acid or basic dyestuff, may be dissolved in benzyl alcohol and/or at least one higher glycol selected from diethylene glycol, phenyl glycol, i.e. 1-phenyl-1,2-dihydroxy ethane (C6H5CHOHCH2OH), propylene glycol, butyl diglycol, i.e. diethylene glycol monobutyl ether (n-C4H9OCH2CH2OCH2CH2OH) or hexane triol, and a synthetic resin soluble therein added to the solution. Specified resins are phenol-modified cyclohexanones or methylcyclohexanones. The blue ink of Example 2 consists of a phthalocyanine dyestuff, the acetate of a triphenylmethane base, phenyl glycol, 1,2-propylene glycol, butyl diglycol, hexane triol, and phthalic acid hexane triol ester.
