A flame gun has a handle consisting of two pivotally interconnected strip metal parts 1, 2 of which part 2 has a screw-threaded hole to receive a threaded gas burner 5 which can be connected to a gas container and has a nozzle 6 and a concentric tubular shield 7 which is supported by a bracket 8 screwed on to the burner so that the shield is readily replaceable.
