Abstract
1,104,866. Carding engines. R. B. JENKINS. 13, April, 1966, No. 16105/66. Heading D1N. A screen situated adjacent the lower part of a main carding cylinder comprises side members 15, 16 and bars 20 therebetween, at least some of the bars being shaped to provide a wider separation therebetween in the centre region of the screen than at the side members so that lateral ejection of waste is reduced. As shown, a centre rib 79 is provided in the screen and the upper surface of each bar tapers to this rib e.g. from a width of ยข" to 7/16"; the separation of the bars at the outer end may be 3/16". The bars are preferably triangular in cross-section (Fig. 4 not shown).
